The Georgie Gust Exhibit

What if you had such severe schizophrenia that your life was just one hallucination after another? And what if people kept trying to drag you back out of those hallucinations, to prove that you weren’t living in reality, and that reality was nothing more than a psych hospital? Would you go? Would you make that leap back into reality, leave such a vivid life, for ceramic walls and metal gurneys?

Sunday Sep 11, 2011

Sunday Sep 11, 2011

In the middle of the night, Jonathan takes you on a quest to deal with fear and lack of sleep, along with the effects that sleep deprivation and thus brain chemistry have when going through a hard time. Hope, faith, resiliency, and courage are still some of the keys to maintain stability even when the chaos of both schizophrenia and external stress get in the way, for a more extended period of time. Be well, friends. The hard times will pass if there are any in your quest. Just have to do your best!

Back once again on The Real Me with Jonathan Harnisch Podcast on iTunes, your host invites you on his audio-diary journey having recorded last night's depression/psychosis episode with this morning's manic episode. Tourette's symptoms abound, especially Jonathan's tic of repeating the word "dude" which is better than saying something inappropriate :) Talk about playfully dubbing himself "The King of Mental Illness!" Updates are available if you would be so kind to like The Real Me with Jonathan Harnisch page on Facebook, or follow JH on Twitter @jwharnisch. Further, reverbnation.com/jwharnisch has some incredible music evoking the full gamut of styles and spectrum. Free music and other audio and info app are available on Android/iPhone, while jharnisch.com is where everything blends together. Enjoy this one guys, and excuse the "dude." After all, it's the Real Him, the Real You... The Real Me—Schizophrenic for sure, and sure as heck handling a handful of cards with resiliency and dedication. "Let's forget the stigma and just be friends!

Relaxing outdoors underneath a rain and thunderstorm in New Mexico, Jonathan discusses several topics and shares some new tools he's been using to maintain recovery from schizoaffective disorder. The idea of schizophrenia or any such tragedy being a result of the universe "teaching lessons," as in, does everything in life "happen for a reason?" is brought to the surface in this episode. The idea that we, as unique individuals might be the ones who give "meaning" to things in general. Mental illness can be quite a roller coaster ride, but keeping hope and faith alive is key to recovery and peace of mind, however people define what it is for them that they want out of life in general.

Host Jonathan Harnisch is full of fun, laughter and playfulness on this episode. Over the weekend he became curious about the idea of life being like a movie. He talks about the schizophrenic mind and how reality might actually be altering, or adjusting the sufferer's reality so that it suits what Jung calls "psychological reality" as well as those who are grounded in real reality itself. This kind of concept could be reason enough to make schizophrenia such a complex disease. A small favor: if you would please "like" the Facebook Page: The Real Me with Jonathan Harnisch, it would make Jonathan's day! Hope you enjoy this episode. Allow it to open your mind, and stay healthy. Keep it cool, and go with the flow!
